Opera gift?

I'm going to an opera with a girl, and wonder if there is any traditional gift to give a girl when you go to one with her. Like a corsage or something? But not that, haha. Magic Flute!

I think that's very romantic and thoughtful!

Is this someone you plan on spending more time with and will be attending similar events?

I would suggest a scrapbook. It's a great place to save programs, tickets stubs, photographs of the two of you.

Enjoy!

I've never heard of the gift-giving part, but if I were your date, I'd love it, anyways.

A nice, practical gift for opera goers is a libretto, so that you know what the text is before you get to the opera house. Makes for better enjoyment, knowing what's going on in the text, instead of just guessing or just listening to the music.

( Of course, a lot of opera houses have sur-titles so you can twist your neck to read along, but it's still better to have an idea before you get there)

And even if they are performing Magic Flute in English, it's still a good idea: vowels can take on funny sounds when they are being sung up high, and a lot of words can go missing....it's jsut part of the physics of singing high.
If you're picking her up from home, taking some flowers would be nice. If you're meeting her there, don't bother as there may not be anywhere to leave them during the performance.

Make sure you buy her a programme at the theatre!
What a delightful idea! I suggest something related to the opera that you are to see. Try http://www.metoperafamily.org/shop
