if so, is there any more albums/bands/groups that are similar?

The piece is Bach's "Little Fugue" in G minor, BWV 578.

Real "modern" opera would be pieces that range from Puccini's "Turandot", all the way to Tan Dun's "The First Emperor."

Works of particular note in the "modern opera" genre would be "Einstein on the Beach" by Philip Glass, "Nixon in China" by John Adams, "Saint Francois d'Assise" by Messiaen and Pfitzner's "Palestrina".

I personally would not call that Opera, modern or otherwise. It was a very interesting presentation but not an opera. An opera is dramatic work set to music with the story being told through singing. That seemed more like a story with a soundtrack.

FYI The music was a re-working of Bach's Great Fugue in C minor. (I think that is the title but I know it is Bach and I know it is a fugue in C minor.)
Mike B is right. Its BWV 578 . To Mike's very good list of "modern" opera, I would add The Rakes Progress by Stravinsky.
And there's also Mark Adamo's "Little Women," Catan's "Florencia en el Amazonas," Glass' "Waiting for the Barbarians," Adams' "Death of Klinghoffer," and Meredith Monk's "Atlas" among modern operas.
